Johnson wins AAA 400

DOVER, DE (TheSpread) – Jimmie Johnson picked up a key victory on Sunday, taking home the AAA 400 title to get back into title contention.

Johnson had a dominant car, leading 243 total laps and holding off Dale Earnhardt Jr. for the win after a final restart. The win pushes Johnson up to second in the point standings, 8 points behind Matt Kenseth for the lead. Kenseth placed seventh on Sunday.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Johnson had 7/2 odds to win this race, which means a wager of $100 on him to win will pay out an additional $350.

Joey Logano came in third on Sunday while Jeff Gordon placed fourth. Gordon moved into a tie for fourth in the standings with his performance on Sunday. Carl Edwards fell 7 slots to 11th after finishing 35th on Sunday.
