RICHMOND, VA (TheSpread) – It was an eventful Federated Auto Parts 400 on Saturday night, but in the end, Carl Edwards picked up the victory.

Edwards was passed by Ryan Newman with just about 10 laps remaining. Newman needed the win to get into the Chase for the Championship. It looked like it was his, but a caution came out forcing a green-white-checkered finish. Edwards got a great jump and drove away with the win while Newman finished third.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Edwards had 18/1 odds to win this race, which means a wager of $100 on him to win will pay out an additional $1,800.

When it came to the Chase, Jeff Gordon ended up missing out by one point. He finished 11th in the standings after placing 8th on Saturday night. Joey Logano edged him out for 10th in the standings while Martin Truex Jr. and Kasey Kahne earned the Wild Card spots due to wins. Gordon went winless this year or he would have made the Chase.

The standings will change following this race, but Edwards ends the regular season as the points leader by one over Jimmie Johnson. Johnson finished 40th on Saturday.
