Federated Auto Parts 400 Predictions
RICHMOND, VA (ATS Consultants) - Which driver will take home the last checkered flag before the Chase when the Federated Auto Parts 400 concludes in Richmond tonight at 7:00PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Kyle Busch is currently favored to win tonight's Federated Auto Parts 400 at 6/1. Clint Bowyer and Matt Kenseth have the next-best odds to win at 13/2, respectively, while Brad Keselowski is 7/1 and Jeff Gordon, who won the pole on Friday night, is 15/2.
Busch is currently fifth in the NASCAR Sprint Cup point standings, as he's 51 points outside of first. He has four wins and 11 top-5 finishes this season, and has four wins at Richmond with an average finish of 6.5. His driver rating of 113.0 at this track is second-best of any current driver.
Our predictions for tonight's race:
Kenseth won the pole at Richmond back in April and finished seventh whiling leading 140 of the 406 laps that day. He finished with a driver rating of 132.4, which was the highest he's ever accumulated at this track. He has one victory here (September 2002) and 10 top-10 finishes. In fact, there was a stretch between May 5 of 2002 and May 15 of 2004 that he finished in the top 7 five consecutive times. He's run well here in the past and should do so again today.
In back-to-back races here in 2009 and 2010, Hamlin took the checkered flag with an average speed of 96.601 and 104.096, respectively. Born in nearby Chesterfield, VA, Hamiln has nine top-10 finishes in 14 starts at Richmond and has led at least one lap in 11 Cup races at this track. He missed the Richmond race earlier this season while recovering from a fractured back but he knows this track well and his team has enjoyed great success here.
Live Long Shot:
Ambrose didn't finish strong at Richmond back in April, finishing 42nd after starting 11th. But he does have two top-10 finishes here dating back to 2010 and might be due to win his first race of the year.
