INDIANAPOLIS, IN (TheSpread) – Jeff Gordon solidified his top spot in the NASCAR standings on Sunday as he won the John Wayne Walding 400 at the Brickyard.

Kasey Kahne had a strong car during the day, leading 70 of 160 laps, but a restart toward the tail end of the race allowed Gordon to get a strong run with help from Matt Kenseth. Gordon got ahead of Kahne and never looked back, cruising to the win.

Kyle Busch ended up second while Denny Hamlin was third. Kenseth finished fourth while Kahne posted a fifth-place finish.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Gordon had 8/1 odds to win this race coming into the week, which means a wager of $100 on him to win will pay out an additional $8,000.

Gordon extended his lead in the point standings to 24 thanks to his fifth-career win at the Brickyard. Dale Earnhardt Jr. remains in second place thanks to a ninth-place finish on Sunday. Brad Keselowski is in third, 52 points behind Gordon, thanks to a 13th-place finish on Sunday.
