2012 FedEx 400 Predictions
DOVER, DE (ATS Consultants) - The Sprint Cup Series heads to Dover, DE for the 13th Cup race on Sunday, June 3 at 1:15pmET for the FedEx 400 at the Dover International Speedway.
The “Monster Mile” was won by Matt Kenseth last year after Carl Edwards and Jimmie Johnson dominated the race until the last 33 laps. This race is one mile long which means we’ll see at least 400 laps. Previous winners include Kyle Busch, Jimmie Johnson, Martin Truex Jr. and Edwards. Johnson is the favorite to win the race at 5/1 odds, while Kyle Busch is 6-1.
Busch climbed one spot to eighth place in the standings following last week’s Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte. He’s 62 points behind leader Greg Biffle. He owns the best average finish (4.3) over the last two years at the track. His average driver rating over that span (112.8) is third-best. Over the last month, Busch hasn’t finished worst than fourth and he’s now on a streak of six straight finishes of 11th or better in the series.
Truex Jr. dropped one spot to sixth after the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte. He’s 49 points behind Sprint Cup series leader Greg Biffle and just one point behind Jimmie Johnson. His sole win came at this track in a dominating effort in 2007. He finished third at Bristol earlier this year and also ended up 5th in Martinsville. He has the the ninth-best driver rating average of anyone in the series. He’s due to stop his winless streak.
Ambrose finished third and ninth in the first two races at the Monster Mile in 2011. That’s despite coming into last year with a best finish of 14th at this track.
