DOVER, DE (TheSpread) – Tony Stewart nearly went a year without a win, but he made sure that didn’t happen, as he won the FedEx 400 on Sunday.

Stewart managed to chase down Juan Pablo Montoya with just two laps to go, making a tough pass to get a victory and get Stewart back into contention for the Sprint Cup Championship.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Stewart had 35/1 odds to win this race, which means a wager of $100 on him to win will pay an additional $3,500.

A late restart had Jimmie Johnson looking to get the lead, but he took off too soon and was penalized, pushing him back to a 17th-place finish. Jeff Gordon came in third on Sunday behind Stewart and Montoya. Stewart led just three laps on the day, while Kyle Busch led 150, but finished fourth.

Johnson is still firmly in first place in the Sprint Cup standings, 30 points ahead of Carl Edwards, who placed 14th on Sunday. Stewart jumped up to 16th in the standings with the victory.
