Martin takes Phoenix Pole

AVONDALE, AZ (TheSpread) – In a bit of a shocker, Mark Martin claimed the pole for Sunday’s Subway Fresh Fit 500 on Friday. Here is a look at the updated odds for this race.

According to oddsmakers, Jimmie Johnson is now the favorite to win this race with 6/1 odds following qualifying. Other short odds to win are Kyle Busch, and Tony Stewart, who each have 7/1 odds. Martin now has 18/1 odds to win following the pole victory

Johnson holds four wins and 11 top 5’s at Phoenix. His average finish at the track is 5.4 while his driver rating is 118.2, which is easily the top rating of any driver in the series. Johnson will start from the fourth position on Sunday.

Busch owns one win and two top 5’s at Phoenix International Raceway in his career. He has an average finish of 14.6 at this track while his driver rating there is 95.5. Busch will start 12th on Sunday.

Stewart has one win and eight top 5’s at Phoenix in his career. His average finish at this track is 11.3 while his driver rating is 100.9, which is third to only Carl Edwards and Johnson. Stewart qualified second for this race.
