Johnson wins in Atlanta
HAMPTON, GA (TheSpread) – Jimmie Johnson pulled away following a restart with 15 laps left and didn’t look back, winning the NASCAR Folds of Honor Quik Trip 500 on Sunday.
Rain delayed the start of the race and colder conditions caused some problems for drivers trying to find a consistent car. However, when the final restart took place, Johnson held off teammate Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kevin Harvick to pick up his first win of the 2015 season.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Johnson entered the week with 7/1 odds to win this race, which means a wager of $100 on him to prevail will pay out an additional $700.
Harvick ultimately caught Earnhardt Jr. and took second while Dale Jr. was third. Jeff Gordon had another rough day, finishing 41st after getting caught in a wreck. He has now wrecked in both races to start his final full season as a driver. Johnson joins Joey Logano as the lone race winners of 2015.
