DAYTONA BEACH, FL (TheSpread) – After a lot of hype, wrecks and restarts, it was Jimmie Johnson that finally emerged as the winner of the 2013 Daytona 500.

View Current NASCAR Odds

Johnson only led 17 laps in the race, but led the ones at the end, taking advantage of a late caution flag to make a run to the finish line. Johnson finished ahead of Dale Earnhardt Jr., who finished in second place despite never leading a lap.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Johnson had 14/1 odds to win the Daytona 500 heading into all the opening festivities, which means a wager of $100 on him to win will pay out an additional $1,400.

Danica Patrick had a respectable showing on the day, finishing eighth after starting on the pole She led five laps and was able to stay out of trouble, which is more than what could be said for top drivers like Tony Stewart, Kevin Harvick, Matt Kenseth and Kyle Busch, who all finished outside the top 30.
