Joey Logano wins Daytona 500
DAYTONA BEACH, FL (TheSpread) – Joey Logano was one of the top contenders in last year’s NASCAR season and he started the 2015 season off right, winning the Daytona 500 on Sunday.
The race was filled with drama and exciting racing, but it eventually came down to a green-white-checkered finish and Logano found himself leading when the caution flag came out on the final lap, making him the 2015 champion. He finished just ahead of Kevin Harvick and Dale Earnhardt Jr. for the win.
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Logano entered the week with 12/1 odds to win this race, which means a wager of $100 on him to win will pay out an additional $1,200. This is Logano’s first Daytona 500 victory.
Logano led just 31 laps on the day, which was fourth behind Jimmie Johnson, Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Gordon. Gordon, who was racing in this race for the final time, finished 33rd but led 87 laps on the day. Johnson finished fifth while Denny Hamlin was fourth. Danica Patrick stayed out of trouble for the most part and ended up 21st in the race.
