Jeff Gordon Daytona 500 Odds
DAYTONA BEACH, FL (TheSpread) – Jeff Gordon may not be competing in his final Daytona 500, but it will at least be his final one as a full-time driver. Will he make it a memorable one?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Gordon is among the favorites to win Sunday’s race, as he has 8/1 odds to prevail. He has the second shortest odds behind only Dale Earnhardt Jr. His over/under for finishing position has been set at 11.5. The Daytona 500 will be held this Sunday from Daytona International Speedway at 1:30PM ET.
Gordon certainly knows this place well as he is set to compete in his 23rd Daytona 500 on Sunday. He is a three-time winner of this race, last taking the checkered flag in 2005 when he started from 15th position. He is on the pole for Sunday’s race for the first time since 1999, a year he also went on to win. His other win came in 1997 when he started in sixth position.
Of the field, Gordon has the most experience at Daytona. He has competed in 44 races at this track and has a total of six wins and 13 top 5s to his credit. His average finish at the track has been 16.2 while his driver rating here is 87.1. He is coming off a fourth-place finish in last year’s race, which snapped a six-race streak of finishing outside the top 10 in the Daytona 500.
