DAYTONA BEACH, FL (TheSpread) – Jimmie Johhnson has had a strong week leading up to the Daytona 500. Will he have a better Sunday than Matt Kenseth?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Johnson is favored to win this matchup, as he has been given odds of -125 to win, while Kenseth is getting a money line of -105 to best Johnson. The Daytona 500 will be held this Sunday from Daytona International Speedway at 1:30PM ET.
Johnson is starting in the second position for Sunday’s race after qualifying. He followed that up with a win in the Budweiser Duel race on Thursday as well. He is a two-time winner of the Daytona 500 and has finished in the top 5 the last two years. Johnson’s driver rating at Daytona is 87.0.
Kenseth is competing in his 16th Daytona 500 this Sunday. He will start from the 35th position on Sunday. He won this race in 2012 and 2009 and was sixth a year ago. His driver rating at Daytona is 91.6, which is second only to Kyle Busch among this year’s field.
