Ryan Newman 2011 Wins
(TheSpread) – Ryan Newman is always one of the fastest drivers when on the track, but can he turn that speed into victories in the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series?
Oddsmakers at online sportsbook SBGGLOBAL.com have given Newman an over/under of 1.5 wins for the 2011 season. He must compete in 33 races this season for the wager to stand.
Newman had a rather uneventful 2010 season as he finished 15th in the standings and had just one victory to his credit.
Over recent year, Newman has struggled to find victory lane, as he has just two wins over the last five years. A part of Tony Stewart’s racing team, Newman might not have the best cars to compete.
Part of Newman’s downfall has been his inability to win pole’s, which he did early in his career. Over the 2002-2005 seasons, Newman won 34 poles, which led to 12 wins during that time period. Over the last three years, Newman has won just four poles.
I wouldn’t feel good about betting on Newman to have two wins. He just doesn’t seem to be much of a contender anymore. He is second on a sub-par team where his No. 1 driver is the owner. There just doesn’t seem to be much urgency in improving Newman’s team and his skills rely on him being near the front of the pack, not chasing other cars from behind in traffic.
