DETROIT (AP) -Retired Detroit Tigers pitcher Todd Jones had shoulder surgery last week.
The 40-year-old right-hander was operated on by Dr. James Andrews, who repaired the rotator cuff and labrum of his pitching shoulder.
Jones started his career in Houston in 1993 and was 4-1 with 18 saves and a 4.97 ERA in 45 appearances last season, his 16th in the major leagues.
Jones had 319 saves and a 3.97 ERA in 982 appearances. He saved a team-record 235 games for the Tigers.
