MIAMI (AP) -Jeff Conine, who played for two World Series championship teams with the Florida Marlins, has rejoined the organization as a special assistant to team president David Samson.
Conine played in 1,014 games for the Marlins, including their first game in 1993, and is nicknamed “Mr. Marlin.” He will help with on-field instruction, community relations and broadcasting.
“I have always considered myself a Florida Marlin, and I am very excited to join the Marlins in this role,” Conine said in a statement Monday. “I look forward to assisting the organization both on and off the field.”
Andre Dawson and Hall of Famer Tony Perez are also special assistants to Samson.
