Prince Fielder believes his trade to the Texas Rangers provides him with a fresh start.
A day after being acquired from Detroit for Ian Kinsler in a blockbuster deal, the five-time All-Star first baseman said Thursday that it will definitely be different in Texas.
The trade came less than two years after the Tigers signed Fielder to a $214 million, nine-year contract. Fielder hit .279 with 106 RBIs this year, but his 25 homers were his fewest over a full season, and he didn’t have an RBI in the postseason for the Tigers.
Fielder could have vetoed the trade. But in a brief conference call, he said he’s going to another good team and that he didn’t think it was going to be a bad thing.
