NEW YORK (AP) - A person familiar with the proceedings says Alex Rodriguez's grievance hearing has been completed.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press on Thursday because no statements were authorized.
The next step is for the sides to submit briefs to arbitrator Fredric Horowitz, which will close the record. Horowitz, who presided over the 12-day hearing, will then decide whether to sustain or alter the 211-game suspension given to the New York Yankees third baseman last summer by Major League Baseball.
A day earlier, Rodriguez walked out of the hearing after Horowitz refused to compel baseball Commissioner Bud Selig to testify. Rodriguez did not testify during the proceeding.
MLB disciplined the three-time AL MVP for alleged violations of baseball's drug policy and labor agreement.
