ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -The Texas Rangers outrighted catcher Guillermo Quiroz off their 40-man roster Thursday.
Quiroz declined the assignment and became a free agent. He went 4-for-10 with a double and two RBIs in nine games with the Rangers this season.
The Rangers have 39 players on their 40-man roster.
