NEW YORK (AP) - Slumping Alex Rodriguez has been dropped to fifth in the New York Yankees' batting order and ailing Derek Jeter has been shifted to designated hitter for Game 4 of the AL division series. The Yankees led Baltimore 2-1 going into Thursday night's game in the best-of-five matchup. Rodriguez was moved down from the No. 3 slot. A day earlier, Raul Ibanez pinch hit for A-Rod in the ninth inning and hit a tying home run, then hit a winning homer in the 12th. Rodriguez is 1 for 12 with seven strikeouts in the series. Jeter fouled a ball off his foot Wednesday night. The All-Star shortstop left the game after eight innings. |
