ST. LOUIS (AP) -Reds closer Francisco Cordero returned to Cincinnati on Friday and was expected to have arthroscopic surgery to remove a bone spur from his right foot.
Cordero, 5-4 with 34 saves and a 3.33 ERA, was to be operated on by Reds medical director Dr. Timonthy Kremchek.
Also Friday, outfielder Chris Dickerson was to have a small piece of bone removed from his left ankle.
Pitcher Edinson Volquez returned home to be examined for tendinitis in his left knee. Volquez’s 17 wins are the Reds’ most since Pete Schourek won 18 games in 1995.
