DETROIT (AP) -Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera left the game against Kansas City on Monday night because of a back problem.
Cabrera, who was replaced in the top of the third inning by Jeff Larish, was described as having “upper back tightness” by a team spokesman. Cabrera’s status is day-to-day.
Cabrera leads the Tigers with 36 homers and 125 RBIs, and his 18 homers at Comerica Park are the most by a player since the stadium opened in 2000.
