CLEVELAND (AP) Cleveland Indians starter Carlos Carrasco has left Saturday’s game after being hit on the right hand by a line drive in the first inning.
Detroit’s Ian Kinsler lined the second pitch of the game off Carrasco’s pitching hand. Manager Terry Francona and a team trainer immediately went to the mound. The trainer worked with Carrasco to get the feeling back in his hand for several moments before the pitcher walked off the field.
Jeff Manship replaced Carrasco with Kinsler on first base after the infield hit. Carrasco missed six weeks earlier in the season with a strained hamstring, which also occurred against the Tigers.
Right-hander Danny Salazar is expected to miss the rest of the season with a strained forearm for Cleveland, which leads Detroit by seven games in the AL Central.
