MILWAUKEE (AP) -The Cincinnati Reds added seven players from Triple-A Louisville, including top prospect Josh Roenicke and recently acquired Danny Richar on Tuesday.
Louisville was eliminated from the International League playoffs on Sunday, making the players available for the final weeks of the Reds’ season.
Also called up were infielders Paul Janish and Adam Rosales; right-handed pitcher Jon Adkins; and left-handers Daniel Ray Herrera and Adam Pettyjohn.
Roenicke, one of the top prospects in the organization, had his contract purchased and joined the big league club for the first time. He was 6-2 with a 2.80 ERA and 13 saves between Louisville and Double-A Chattanooga combined this season.
Richar also had his contract purchased, and also has never made a major league appearance. He was traded to the Reds July 31 as part of the deal that sent Ken Griffey Jr. to the Chicago White Sox. Richar hit .260 with 11 homers in the minors this year.
The Reds also purchased the contract of Adkins, who led the International League with 30 saves.
recalled. Janish was with the Reds earlier this season, batting .188 with five RBIs in 31 games including 13 starts at shortstop.
Rosales is making his third stint. He was up twice in August, started once at third, but was primarily a pinch-hitter.
Pettyjohn was 15-6 at Louisville. He last appeared in the major leagues with Detroit in 2001.
Herrera had two stints with the Reds in June.
The Reds also placed Josh Fogg (right groin) on the 60-day disabled list, recalled Matt Belisle (right knee) from Louisville and placed him on the 60-day DL and designated Todd Coffey for assignment.
