CLEVELAND (AP) -Andy Marte, who began the season as Cleveland’s starting third baseman before being demoted to the minors, was recalled by the Indians on Tuesday.
The club also recalled left-hander Juan Lara and right-hander Edward Mujica from Triple-A Buffalo.
Marte was batting only .180 when he went on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring on April 23.
Lara is joining the Indians for the first time this season. He went 4-3 with two saves and a 3.88 ERA in 52 relief appearances at Buffalo. Lara pitched in nine games for Cleveland as a late-season call up in 2006.
Mujica has been with the Indians four previous times since April, posting an 8.53 ERA in nine games. At Buffalo, he went 2-1 with 14 saves and a 5.02 ERA in 34 games.
They were expected to join the Indians for Tuesday’s game against the Minnesota Twins.
