ST. LOUIS (AP) -The St. Louis Cardinals added four players to their roster Tuesday, recalling right-hander Brad Thompson and infielder Brian Barden from Triple-A Memphis and purchasing the contracts of catcher Kelly Stinnett and right-hander Brian Falkenborg from Memphis.
Barden, claimed off waivers from the Diamondbacks on Aug. 14 and optioned that day to Memphis, is the only player of that group making it to the major leagues for the first time. In 20 games at Memphis he batted .235 with two home runs and 12 RBIs, playing 12 games at shortstop and six at third base.
Thompson is 6-5 with a 5.07 ERA, including 13 starts, Falkenborg was 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA and Stinnett was batting .182 with a homer and four RBIs.
