CINCINNATI (AP) -Ross Ohlendorf was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis by Pittsburgh and was scheduled to make his Pirates debut as the starting pitcher in Wednesday night’s game at Cincinnati.
Ohlendorf, acquired from the New York Yankees on July 25, was 4-3 with a 3.47 ERA in seven Triple-A starts for the Pirates.
Also recalled Tuesday were right-handers T.J. Beam, Craig Hansen, Marino Salas and Romulo Sanchez. Pittsburgh also recalled infielder Brian Bixler, catchers Ronny Paulino and Robinzon Diaz and ourfielder Steve Pearce.
The Pirates also purchased the contract of infielder Luis Cruz from Indianapolis. To make room on the 40-man roster for Cruz, Pittsburgh released right-hander Ty Taubenheim.
