PHILADELPHIA (AP) -The Philadelphia Phillies called up reliever Geoff Geary from Triple-A Ottawa after Wednesday night’s loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Outfielder Chris Roberson was sent down to make room for Geary, who is 1-2 with a 5.28 ERA in 40 games with the Phillies this season.
Philadelphia’s bullpen allowed 10 runs and 11 hits in three innings in a 15-3 loss to the Dodgers.
Before the game, Phillies ace Cole Hamels (14-5, 3.50 ERA) was placed on the disabled list with an elbow strain. Right fielder Shane Victorino was activated to fill his spot.
