SAN DIEGO (AP) -Reliever Brian Fuentes was activated from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday night by the Colorado Rockies.
The left-hander won't return as closer. Fuentes had been the Rockies' closer for most of the season, with 20 saves in 26 opportunities, but blew four straight saves during a road trip and was demoted.
He went on the DL on July 13, retroactive to July 4, with a mild back strain.
Fuentes took the roster spot of Tim Harikkala, who was designated for assignment on Sunday after starting against Chicago.
