BOSTON (AP) -Texas Rangers center fielder Josh Hamilton was expected to miss Thursday night’s game against the Boston Red Sox after his wife gave birth to their third daughter.
Hamilton, the major league RBI leader, left Wednesday night’s 8-4 loss to Boston in the sixth inning to fly home to be with his wife, Katie. But “the last flight was at 9 o’clock,” he said, so he planned to leave early Thursday instead.
Hamilton struck out in the sixth with the Red Sox leading 8-0 and was replaced in the bottom of the inning. Marlon Byrd moved from right field to center and Jason Ellison entered the game in right.
Boston can sweep the three-game series Thursday.
