PHOENIX (AP) -Billy Traber was optioned by the Washington Nationals to Triple-A Columbus after Sunday’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The left-hander was 2-2 with a 4.78 ERA in 28 games, including two starts.
The club is expected to activate right-hander Shawn Hill to start Tuesday night against Philadelphia. Hill, who has been on the disabled list since May 12 with a strained left shoulder, is 3-3 with a 2.70 ERA in eight starts.
To make room for Hill in the rotation, the team said Mike Bacsik would move to the bullpen. Bacsik, who gave up Barry Bonds’ 756th home run on Tuesday, is 5-6 with a 4.76 ERA.
