PITTSBURGH (AP) -The Pirates purchased the contract of right-handed reliever Franquelis Osoria from Triple-A Indianapolis on Saturday and sent reliever Jonah Bayliss to the minors.
Osoria, who was expected to be in uniform for the Pirates’ game Saturday night against Cincinnati, was 2-5 with 11 saves and a 2.63 ERA at Indianapolis. The 25-year-old is 0-4 with a 5.13 ERA in 36 major league appearances, all with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2005-06. He was claimed off waivers by the Pirates in December.
Bayliss made one appearance for the Pirates after being recalled from Triple-A earlier this week after a monthlong stint in the minors. He allowed six runs and six hits and three home runs during the final three innings of a 13-4 loss to the Reds on Friday night.
He is 4-3 with an 8.36 ERA in 39 games with Pittsburgh this year.
