ATLANTA (AP) -Shortstop Edgar Renteria was put on the disabled list by the Atlanta Braves on Friday, one day after he sprained his right ankle while trying to field a hard grounder.
Renteria, hitting .336 with 11 homers and 53 RBIs, was put on the 15-day DL after he was found to have a high ankle sprain. Renteria had to be helped off the field Thursday night after he hurt the ankle in the eighth inning while trying to field a one-hopper off the bat of Houston's Ty Wigginton.
Right-handed reliever Joey Devine was recalled from Triple-A Richmond of the International League.
