HOUSTON (AP) -The Astros claimed reliever Alberto Arias off waivers from the Colorado Rockies on Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Round Rock.
The 24-year-old Arias had a 2.63 ERA in 12 games for Colorado earlier this season, and was 3-4 with a 4.73 ERA at Triple-A Colorado Springs. The Rockies designated him for assignment on Tuesday to make room for outfielder Cory Sullivan on the 40-man roster.
The right-handed Arias has a 3.43 ERA in 18 career major league games, all in relief.
