OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -Detroit catcher Ivan Rodriguez dropped his appeal and served his one-game suspension during the Tigers' game against the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday night.
Rodriguez had been suspended for making contact with umpire Mike Winters during a game against the Seattle Mariners on July 12. Rodriguez was arguing that he was interfered with while trying to throw out a base stealer.
Mike Rabelo started in Rodriguez's place.
