NEW YORK (AP) -White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen was ejected in the first inning of Chicago's game against the New York Yankees on Tuesday night.
Guillen got the attention of plate umpire Phil Cuzzi with Derek Jeter batting in the bottom of the first. Cuzzi turned and yelled something toward Guillen in the dugout, and the manager motioned for Cuzzi to return to the plate. That's when Guillen was ejected for the third time this season and 12th time in his big league managing career.
Guillen walked out the dugout and emptied his pockets of a ball and some papers before arguing with Cuzzi for an extended period. He went back toward the dugout at one point, then wheeled around and went back to argue with him some more.
He finally retreated with some persuading by another White Sox coach, slipping on the dugout steps as he made his way to the clubhouse.
Guillen appeared to be upset with a check swing call on Jeter after Jim Thome was called out on strikes in the top of the inning.
