ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -Tampa Bay Devil Rays All-Star left fielder Carl Crawford was out of the starting lineup for the second straight game Sunday because of a sprained right wrist.
Crawford was available to be a defensive replacement or pinch run. His status for starting will be determined on a daily basis.
“It’s still sore,” Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon said. “The biggest problem is swinging the bat.”
The Devil Rays recalled infielder Ben Zobrist from Triple-A Durham before Sunday’s game against Boston. He is taking the roster spot of Ty Wigginton, who was traded to Houston for reliever Dan Wheeler Saturday.
