NEW YORK (AP) -Carlos Beltran strained an abdominal muscle during batting practice and was scratched from the New York Mets’ lineup Wednesday night against Pittsburgh.
A team spokesman said the All-Star outfielder’s strain was on his left side. There was no immediate word on the seriousness of the injury.
Lastings Milledge moved from left field to center and Marlon Anderson was inserted into the lineup in left. David Wright, Carlos Delgado and Paul Lo Duca all moved up a spot in the order and Anderson was in the No. 6 slot.
Beltran is batting .263 with 19 homers and 62 RBIs this season.
