ATLANTA (AP) -Washington first baseman Dmitri Young missed his second straight start Saturday, complaining of having high blood sugar and feeling lightheaded.
“He’s pretty much the same,” said manager Manny Acta. “He’s still not well enough to play.”
Young, a diabetic, was pulled out of Friday night’s lineup when he said he felt dizzy and had difficulty focusing. The problem with his vision continued on Saturday.
Young was examined by Dr. Brooks Lide on Friday night. Lide, a Braves physician, said Young’s symptoms should improve if he kept his blood sugar in check, according to the Nationals.
Paul Lo Duca started for the second straight game at first base against the Atlanta Braves on Saturday night.
Young is hitting .280 with four homers and 10 RBIs in 50 games.
