ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -Rangers shortstop Michael Young missed Thursday night’s game against Cleveland after the death of his wife’s grandmother in Southern California.
Young remained in California to attend the funeral after the Rangers completed their three-game series in Oakland on Wednesday.
Manager Ron Washington said Young is expected to miss two games and is scheduled to rejoin the team in time for Saturday night’s game against the Indians.
Young, the Rangers’ only All-Star this season, is hitting .289 with four home runs and 54 RBIs. He missed only one of the first 94 games.
