DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -Chicago Cubs closer Ryan Dempster pitched a perfect inning in a rehab outing for Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday night.
Dempster, who has been on the disabled list since June 23 because of a left oblique strain, struck out one in a 12-pitch inning against Round Rock. He was scheduled to pitch again Thursday for Iowa.
Dempster is 1-3 with a 3.38 ERA and 16 saves for Chicago.
