CHICAGO (AP) -Chicago White Sox closer Bobby Jenks, on the disabled list with a sore left scapula, had his rehab assignment transferred Wednesday from Class A Winston-Salem to Double-A Birmingham.
Jenks, who has 18 saves in 21 chances, pitched for Winston-Salem on Monday and gave up one run and three singles. He hadn’t pitched since June 29.
The White Sox also announced that utility infielder Pablo Ozuna, designated for assignment last week, had rejected an outright assignment to Triple-A Charlotte. The team then asked waivers on Ozuna for the purposes of granting him unconditional release.
Ozuna batted .281 with six RBIs in 32 games this season. He was designated for assignment last week when Paul Konerko came off the disabled list.
