ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – The Los Angeles Angels placed outfielder Collin Cowgill on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with a broken nose, and recalled infielder Grant Green from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Cowgill was injured Saturday night when he missed a bunt, and a pitch from Texas Rangers right-hander Matt West hit him in the nose. Cowgill left the game, received stitches and went to a hospital.
This will be Green’s third stretch with the Angels this season. He had been optioned to Salt Lake on Tuesday despite a .324 batting average, one home run and eight RBIs in 74 at-bats. In 41 games for Salt Lake, he has batted .321 with four homers and 38 RBIs.
Cowgill has a .277 average with five homers and 16 RBIs in 69 games for Los Angeles.
