CHICAGO (AP) -The San Francisco Giants purchased the contract of infielder Ivan Ochoa from Triple-A Fresno and optioned Travis Denker to Class A San Jose.
The 25-year-old Ochoa is making his first appearance on a major league roster. After impressing with his defensive play during spring training, he has been swinging the bat well, hitting .318 with six homers and 32 RBIs for Fresno. He will be the 11th Giants player to make his major league debut this season.
Ochoa, Emmanuel Burriss and Brian Bocock are contenders for shortstop Omar Vizquel, once he retires.
The 22-year-old Denker hit .243 with one homer and three RBIs in 37 at-bats with the Giants.
