OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -Seattle infielder Yuniesky Betancourt was scratched from Sunday's starting lineup against the Athletics because of a stiff back.
``He's having trouble bending over,'' Mariners manager John McLaren said.
Willie Bloomquist, originally penciled in as the center fielder, moved to shortstop while Jason Ellison took over in center, as McLaren followed through with his plan to give All-Star outfielder Ichiro Suzuki some time off by using him as the DH.
``He's not going to have much time off the next few days,'' McLaren said. ``It's like a day off for Ichiro.''
