MILWAUKEE (AP) - The New York Mets recalled first baseman Ike Davis from Triple-A Las Vegas.
Davis, demoted on June 10 due to a poor start to the 2013 season, was batting fourth against Milwaukee on Friday night.
Davis was hitting .161 with five home runs and 16 RBIs in 55 games before being sent down. He made some mechanical adjustments during his stay in the minors and batted .293 with seven homers and 13 RBIs for Las Vegas.
``He made huge changes,'' Mets' manager Terry Collins said. ``I am sure that he will look a little different in the batter's box than when he left.''
The Mets are hoping he can return to last season's form when he hit 32 home runs and drove in 90 runs.
The Mets also recalled pitcher Greg Burke from Triple-A Las Vegas and designated pitcher Brandon Lyon for assignment.
