CINCINNATI (AP) -Washington left fielder Elijah Dukes was carried off the field on a cart after suffering an apparent injury to his right knee in the seventh inning of the Nationals’ game at Cincinnati on Saturday night.
Dukes slammed into the left-field wall backward after catching Jay Bruce’s fly ball. He fell to the warning track and flipped the ball to center fielder Roger Bernadina, who returned it to the infield and went back to check on Dukes before calling for help.
Dukes was seen holding his right knee while laying on the ground and being carted off.
He went into the game hitting .262 and was 1-for-3 with a double. The score was 1-1 at the time of the injury.
Second baseman Willie Harris was moved to left field and Ronnie Belliard went in at second base.
