ATLANTA (AP) -Chipper Jones is back in the lineup for the Atlanta Braves.
Jones, who missed eight straight starts with a strained right quadriceps and expected to be placed on the disabled list on Tuesday, instead returned to the lineup against Philadelphia on Tuesday night.
He joined, Mark Kotsay, who came off the disabled list to start in center field.
Jones said he felt no pain while stretching and then running before the game. He leads the major leagues with his .394 batting average.
The Braves optioned outfielder Brandon Jones to Triple-A Richmond to clear a spot for Kotsay.
