OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -Oakland outfielder Ryan Sweeney left Thursday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies with a sprained left ankle.
Sweeney was injured when he slid past catcher Carlos Ruiz and reached back to touch the plate for Oakland’s second run in the first inning. He walked off under his own power, accompanied by manager Bob Geren and head trainer Steve Sayles.
Rajai Davis replaced Sweeney in center field in the second.
