 CHICAGO (AP) -The Chicago White Sox optioned outfielder Jerry Owens back to Triple-A Charlotte after Wednesday after a 5-4 loss to the Marlins, clearing the way for Darin Erstad to be activated from the disabled list.
Owens batted .170 with three stolen bases in 15 games with the White Sox after being recalled from Charlotte on June 1 to replace Erstad, who sprained his left ankle.
Erstad is expected to officially rejoin the White Sox on Friday for the opener of a three-game series with the Cubs.
