MIAMI (AP) -Yankees center fielder Brett Gardner says he’s “feeling fine” after a collision with the wall Thursday night that forced him to be carted off the field.
Gardner said Friday that he was feeling good enough to play for the start of the Yankees’ three-game series against the Florida Marlins. He was not in the starting lineup, but Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Gardner would be available.
Gardner tracked down Austin Kearns’ long drive in the eighth in New York’s loss to the Washington Nationals. But the back of Gardner’s head whiplashed against the Plexiglas wall, and he was down on the warning track for several minutes after getting the wind knocked out of him.
